I'm wondering if this is going to be similar to the old Bengal Slices, which I've heard described as an oriental-forward latakia blend with a light floral note.
Either way, I'm looking forward to this one in a BIG way.

Can't wait to give it a go. I have a few kake tobaccos that I recently got into that Im still trying to get used to.

I've never had a blend where the tobacco was bunched together except for Jackknife Plug and it was too high nicotine for me. I need to try some more of them everyone seems to dig them.

Photoman -- Yeah, Jackknife might not have been the best introduction to this style! It's very powerful and difficult to prepare. If you like aros, I'd recommend Classic Burley Kake, which pretty much smokes itself and has less nicotine than Carter Hall. if you like English/Balkans, both Penzance and Ten to Midnight are great (as will this new one from Russ, I'm hoping). Plus there's a whole slew of VAs, my favorite being Briar Fox.

Fusilier's Ration is, as mentioned before, a Latakia crumble cake which is rich in Orientals and has a touch of unflavored black Cavendish with a somewhat floral top note. Whether it reminds you of an old blend will be up to the individual (YMMV). I will have samples of it at Richmond this coming weekend, and it will go up for sale this Friday. I'm anticipating the feedback with this one probably more than any other new release, as I'm very excited about this one.

Russ -- is this processed in much the same way as Classic Burley Kake? I love the feel and smoking characteristics of CBK and had been hoping that a lat blend would be prepared like that some day. They certainly look similar....

CBK is a little softer feeling than Fusilier's Ration, but both will be pretty cool smokes.
