It was never intended to be a perfect flush fit like a typical factory pipe. Much like most every other hand made freehand out there. That is the point.

Mso, I agree about the weight of the Nordings. These two are probably the lightest pipes I own, even though they are larger than most of the others. They're great clenchers, and I'm continually surprised by that.
