Hope you have someone teaching you how to smoke a pipe or you are using the internet for that purpose. I always tell newbies to the hobby pack the pipe lightly and to smoke slowly.

I'm not really sure of the etiquette of when to post in a forum. Im probable breaking etiquette now. If I am,, I apologize. But I do have a question or questions. I picked up a couple Josts pipes. One appears to be Comoy made, it has the football made in England stamp on the briar and a J on the stem. It looks to be well taken care of, it's a nice little apple shape sitter with a saddle stem. The other is a large, thick acorn shape and a quarter bent stem. Stem has the J, briar just says Imported Briar. I would like to find out if it's a Harvey Raspberry pipe, and I'd like to find out roughly or exactly the white color used on the J imprint. I've been reading a lot about Jost pipes and 1: it's a wicked cool story and 2: the info all seems really circular.

I've been searching the interweb up and down and any particulars of Josts is really hard to pin down.

Thanks, Def is taking time to get a feel for it. I just know from cigars that a robusto is gonna smoke different from a Churchill and different from a lancero for sure. I feel like I'm learning a skill and a relaxation ritual at the same time. It's pretty cool
