For the record, I don’t think kids should be pipesmoking, and therefore shouldn’t be RSVPing.
Iwan Ries doesn't appear to be promoting it, nor anyone else other than here, hope they know "you" are coming.

Haha, they know we are coming! I've been talking a lot with Kevin of Iwan Ries, he's very excited for it. Not sure why they haven't posted, although he did mention that they are locked out of their socials— it could be that. But yes, it's the first meet up of the new club. Just trying to form a club a little closer to home. I'm new to all this though so keeping it casual and open. Kevin should have some tobaccos for us to sample and right now we have around 10 confirmed, many are new pipe smokers so they will be doing a lighting demo also. Yes! Only because the Chicagoland Pipe Collector's Club (The OG Chicago Pipe Club) meets in the suburbs and it's just a bit hard to get to. Having such a historic place like Iwan Ries right in downtown inspired the idea to form a club that meets in the city. I'm sure at some point, if our new club gets big enough, we will find a way to service them or be their "sister" club or something. Nothing but love here in Chi!
The main reason I don't think kids should be smoking is that they have much faster trigger fingers and therefore will snap up all of the limited-release tobacco I'm trying to buy.haha I was waiting for someone to comment on that
For a decade, I lived off the Irving Park stop of the the UPNW metra line. It was a few bucks for a half hour's ride and a ten minute walk to get to either Iwan Ries or Arlington Pipe and Cigar,where the Chicagoland Pipe Collectors Club meets most often these days. Ninety-nine times out of a hundred I would go to Arlington. Their hours fit my availability better, the lounge is free to enter, and the store was open, so I could buy tobacco.
I would have liked a regular pipe smoker's meet up inside the city limits. Be it a new club, a sister club, or an occasional social smoke. Best of luck in your venture.

Very cool! Thank you for saying that! Let us know if you are back in town! Yes, I live in Wrigley so taking a train up to Arlington Heights would take 1hr and 15 min. It's kind of a tough setup.
I've got plans this weekend or I'd be there. You guys have a Facebook/Instagram/website or whatever where you are planning to post future meet-ups so I can try to make the next one?
Also, logistical suggestion for next time... the flyer says DM to RSVP, but it doesn't say *where* to DM.

This is great news. Iwan Ries is an amazing shop. Pipe enthusiasts in the downtown area have flocked there for years. Nothing like a social smoke at Iwan. Hope y'all have good turnouts for each event.
