Welcome home. I hope you enjoy your time here at pipesmagazine.com/forums as fnord said, this truly is the friendliest pipe forum on the web.
Happy puffing friend.

Thanks for your service. You and the rest of the armed forces give me the freedom to purchase and smoke my pipes as I see fit. I am forever grateful!

Welcome to the forum,
I'm new also.
Hope you have a speedy recovery from the UK, the work you and the British boys do over seas is great stuff.
Best Wishes,

Herm

Your service in Afghanistan has certainly earned you plenty of good, relaxing pipefuls of those fine Dunhill mixtures. Add my thanks for your service, and enjoy your pipe!

Thanks so much guys, and yes I have been enjoying the Dunhill tins for sure. It is good to see so much response for my service I did not even get such a reception at Alanta International when we got in lol. :D

As a Viet Nam vet, I can tell you that it's a lot better today than it was when we came home. I'm glad to see that you guys (and women) are getting a better reception than we did. I'll also add my thanks for your service, it takes something special to put service to the better good above your own safety. Welcome home.

Thanks Kcvet67 , My dad was in the nam. and grandaddy was a SEAL in Korea

It seems to run in the family. It takes something a little more than run of the mill to be willing to place yourself in harm's way. My dad was a farmer during WW2 and draft exempt. He volunteered for the Marines, watched them raise the flag on Mt. Suribachi on Iwo Jima. He was a machine gunner and one of the prime targets coming off the landing craft. Didn't get a scratch throughout one of the bloodiest battles of the Pacific but caught a bunch of shrapnel after the fighting was over while poking around in caves looking for souvenirs (he found one hat was still occupied).

BTW, be sure to get in touch with the VA. I'd recommend getting someone to help file a claim. I work at the National HQ for the VFW, we have Service Officers at all VA hospitals, so do the American Legion and most other veterans groups. They'll all be more than happy to help you file a disability claim with the VA at no cost to you. Don't do what I did and ignore it for years. You earned it and it can mean a lot financially.

Welcome to the forums! Just curious, did u start smoking in stan or after u got back to the states? I never tried to bring a pipe back, but I know a bunch of guys who tried to bring back hookahs and they wouldnt let us bring them if they had any resin in them. They basically had to be brand new

Welcome home, and to the forum! First off, thank you for your service! If you're wanting a good way to relax, piping is the way to go! I'm usually a laid back individual, but I generally have a low tolerance for stupidity, and being that I have to deal with it on a daily basis, piping definitely helps me relax! Good luck on your recovery!
