I've had a pipe or two that had a stem that wasn't quit right or felt a bit thick in my teeth. If I was happy with the rest of the pipe (and yours looks like it's coloring beautifully) I didn't send it back. I get some sand paper type nail files, with medium and fine sides and go to work on it. Take the stem off of the pipe and start carefully sanding it to the desired shape. Wipe it off every now and again and put it in your mouth. Eventually you'll get it to wear it feels comfortable in your teeth. I finish mine off with some 2500 grit paper to give it the polished finish...

Swilley wrote; Whoa, Saint007, that's some gorgeous coloring right there. I'm actually a bit surprised, I would have thought the oilier and darker tobaccos, like orientals and latakia would color the pipe more. I'll give aromatics more of a run to see if the coloring becomes more dramatic.
Could be. My experience with meers is mostly with aros and generally by the 8th to 12th bowl I start getting some good coloring, depending on the thickness of the pipe.
I use the rubber tips on all my pipes and have not had a problem with the meer stems being too thick. I've gotten to the point where I don't like smoking a pipe without the softy tips.
