The Brarasccini line seems to have used a an acrylic mortise that a machine produces to seal up against a moulded stem another machine produces.

It all had to work out before they made the moulds and began production.

Were it mine I’d borrow some nail polish from my wife and get to painting acrylic.

Heating up acrylic with a flame seems unswise.:)
Where would you suggest I apply the acrylic? On
I have a few factory pipes with slight gaps, too. Sounds like your pipe isn't leaking anymore. Now that you know how to take better care of your pipes, you can focus on enjoying them! 👍
After cleaning out the (completely filthy( mortise, the gap closes half a hair more. I suppose I should have inspected the pipe before smoking to rule out user error. Anyway, thanks guys. It smokes fine and I haven't got any leaks in the past few smokes.
*Correction: You should get a better seal/fit after that.
