I have 18 Neerups and Jeppesens and several have very thin bottoms. Calipers show the bottom of the bowl inside is only 4/32 of an inch thick. The pipe is less than 6 months old. I own over 150 pipes and have never seen this problem in any others.

Funny to see this thread come alive again!

As an update to my Neerup, in the end it was the stem that went - a hole developed in it where the pipe cleaner must have scraped away the acrylic.

It was a nice enough pipe whilst it was working, but I don't think I'd get another one.

Have you smoked a hole through it? If not, I would keep smoking it and see what happens. Also has the taste of the leaf changed since your discovery? The taste would be somewhat charred.

An unfortunate result for such a lovely pipe. Have you contacted Neerup about it?
Not really...I owned this pipe already for 2-3 years but only smoked it like 15 times when this happened..I think it is too late for it...Design flaw for sure....Today I do not buy pipes of this freehand style anymore...My Nording got a hot spot too but I smoked like 200 bowls and its still doing allright and was cheap..This Jepessen was expensive and lasted 15 bowls😭😭this is an example of sacrificing a function for nice shape lines

I would imagine that they would want to make good on their defect even if it’s been a few years. I think seeing the good condition that the pipe is in will give credibility to your 15 smoke claim. If it were me, I would want to guarantee the pipes I made from defect so long as they are not abused.

I thought about to contact Peder directly about it but even if he made me another pipe he can't replicate this pipe exactly and I have some sentimental value in this one so I am keeping it..Its possible to fix I think with some glue over the burnout area inside a bowl or pipe mud or similar..MY other Jepessen Ida is one of the very few best smokers and I love it..but it is a volcano which will never burn through

Hole is not completely through yet but I dropped the pipe when it happened because it burned my hand ..I can not smoke it anymore maybe just half way..the wall need to be reinforced with some pipe mud or epoxy..Burn out happened so fast I was shocked..
