Do anyone know of a place that would make up a new Peterson System pipe stem that takes a 9mm filter? I know Peterson will do it, but by the time I ship it there and get it back, I wouldn't be far off from just buying a new pipe. I'd prefer acrylic, but I won't be too choosy with it.

You could ask SmokingPipes since they (Laudisi) own Peterson
Otherwise The Danish Pipe Shop offers Peterson stems. I've always had great service from them
I did email Laudisi initially, but they replied that they only did work on broken or lost stems, and to original spec. I was a little shocked actually, but I understand.

Yes, but my first question would be: A filter on a System Pipe? Nothing wrong with that, but it seems overkill.

What problem are you trying to solve?

trying to compete with the Vauen Cavalier. That thing takes 3 9mm filters. That's certainly a what??? The!!! Heck!?!?!? type situation in my opinion. It might have been a dream, but I swear I've heard of filtered system pipes before.

Aren't Savinelli System pipes basically the same as Peterson's, but with a 6mm filiter?

and not as nice looking to my eye. I can't even figure out what it is but they don't look as nice to me. To the point of seeing them and thinking oh that's an ugly Peterson, oh wait it's a Sav. Which is funny cause I think Sav makes some great looking pipes.

Yeah, the Savinelli systems are definitely not as nice looking.

I think those Pete system stems have to be hand-fitted to the individual pipe. The taper has to be perfect or they won't fit and stay in place. You might as well spring for another 314, only with a filter if such exists, and sell this one to cut the loss. (Man, I don't understand trying to suck smoke through those filters, but whatever works for you. Yes, I've tried it.)

It may have been an attempt to break into portions of the European market more. German smokers far prefer the 9mm options to no filter at all, so maybe it was strategic? They are certainly harder to find though.

Oh they most certainly exist, but not in the North American bubble

A general copy of them, yes. Interestingly, the Savinelli Dry System appears to be ceasing the 6mm line and transitioning to the 9mm options (the "New Dry System"). I'm thinking it is again to break into a larger market.

The old Sav System pipes are certainly not as pleasing to my eye, but the current ones are much more attractive to me. They are the 613, 614, 620, and 621. I think the Peterson does still please the eye more, but I actually really like my Sav.

The flare on the stem is certainly less aestheticly pleasing, but I think the stem is more comfortable. The Peterson's are slightly rounded, or at least mine are. The Savinelli is flat like a fishtail, which sits nicer in my mouth. Plus the actual p-lip is more comfortable than Peterson's, and the tongue sits better in the designated spot more comfortably to me.

I'd hate to sell my 314, it has beautiful birds eye and was a gift from my brother. Even if I could find a regular acrylic stem that fit it I'd be happy, I know I don't need a filter.

I get the reluctance for filters, but I have found filters helped a lot with tongue bite for me. I'm also not American, and for whatever reason Americans tend to hate filters haha. To each their own, I don't think there is a right or wrong way here, just

I actually don't mind filters. I used to use meer filters in my Mr. Brog morta(these days I'm using a Tsuge Kulu Cool, which isn't so much a filter as it is an insert LOL)
