From what I understand Gunnar you're going to become a Marine in the very near future. Now, I say this as one veteran to a soon to be veteran and right now its not what you're going to want to hear. But, believe me when I say, unless you were planning on marrying this young lady (and thats a whole 'nother discussion), you're breaking up is the best thing that could have happened. Trust me on this one! And I say that knowing full well that others will probably disagree. But, in my experience being young and single in the military is the best way to be for the time being!

+1 Been there and done that. Went to Korea and in a year I watched the marriages of others crumble around me. Came back to the states and the fuckery didn't improve with the new venue. Stay single through your tour and your worst problem will be finding time for a pipe, unless you go to war and then that will be the least of your problems.

Thank you everyone, you are truly the best and I'm happy and proud to call you all my friends. It's been really rough the past couple days. I was supposed to spend the holidays with her and her family and I had to break it to her mom that her daughter broke up with me. That was an interesting conversation. Your words really do help me. I miss her so much but you guys are right that its probably for the better. My friends have taken me out on the town the past couple days and that's helped a bit. Today has been rough, Iv been going through and deleting the pictures and her phone number and deleting her off of my Facebook.

Well one thing great about girls is there are more of them out there and a few of them may actually like you. So after you get your drunk on, burn her picture, cut her panties off your bed post and let a stripper rub glitter into your face with her boobs, you can work on finding another girlfriend.

Thanks everyone you guys are truly the best, been trying to move on drinking and church have helped alot and so have you guys! I was supposed to have thanksgiving with her and her family so that kinda hurt,,,ya know what I mean. just wanted to say thanks again for everything

I feel for your loss. Losing a girlfriend can be similar to losing someone to death. You need to go through the grieving process.
But I disagree with lots of the advice given here. The Bible forbids sex out of marriage for a reason. It unites you with a girl in more ways than just the physical. The breakup afterwards is far more difficult. I have friends who maintained a hands off policy during dating, and parted without great trama.
