Salty Dogs is fantastic, if you don't mind working with a plug -- a bit pricey stateside, but I'm slowly building up a stock of it in my cellar. It's an easy smoke once shaved off the plug and rubbed out, and the rum is in the forefront, more so even than the perique (at least to my tastes).

I’ll be the dumbass to recommend something that wasn’t asked for, but if you’re looking for a solid rum flavor, try Black Frigate. Again, not really what you asked for, but it has plenty of “rumminess” to it. ?‍♂️

It's among my top 5 for sure, but I'm not getting any rum from it, I think the OP is looking for something with a strong rum taste, so I can't comment because my Black Frigate is still in my cousin's house in NYC, and Salty Dogs is jarred as I have other stuff to open first :)

I actually get a slightly stronger flavour from the Brown Twist than I do from Salty Dogs. It's definitely not a full on rum aromatic or anything but I do find it quite noticeable. Whatever, it's an amazing tobacco as are all the other flavoured brown twists I've tried. Uncomplicated, strong, plenty of flavour, natural tasting toppings and they don't bite me.
I've never tried Black Frigate. I did think of adding a tin to a previous American order but it contains latakia. I can't stand latakia, even if it's just a smidge in the blend.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've added Robert McConnell Scottish Flake, Dan Tobacco Salty Dogs, and Fribourg & Treyer Brown Flake to my order. Looking forward to trying them, and some of the other suggestions as well.

As flavorings go, alcoholic beverages are some of my favorite, though I'm not a big recreational drinker. I like a beer or wine with a meal or the occasional celebratory bourbon. In blends, however, I appreciate rum, Irish or any other whiskey, and liqueurs as in SWRA. I suspect I'd like Amaretto. Alcoholic beverages can be quite prominent in a blend without being intrusive, in a way that many food flavorings cannot. I don't think I've had a rum flavored pipe blend I don't like. Black Frigate is A-OK.
