Hi all,
I need a recommendation for pipe as there are too many brands around.
Criteria:

Black smooth

Billiard straight shape

Briar

Price $100-150 maybe slightly more
porsche kind of design appeal to me but price is over. it will be something i will carry around all day for couple of years.
Appreciate if i could get some recommendations.
Thank you.

Welcome, Elson!
To be honest, I don't think I've ever seen a smooth, black briar pipe. Maybe I've just never looked too hard, since that's not something that would necessarily appeal to me. But I've seen far more sandblasted black pipes. (And the sandblasted ones I've seen/own would be out of the price range you mentioned.)
Hopefully someone else will have some better ideas than I do!
Bob

Peterson has a smooth black I believe in their Kilerny line, I have one and if I was wrong on the series I will correct . Mine smokes very good always thought that painted pipes smoked hot, but that is not the case with this one.

Danish Pipe Shop (site sponsor) has these. Might be in your price range after VAT is deducted.

Brad was right. The Killarny Ebony comes in a fishtail @ SmokingPipes for $106.25

...and then there's the Savinelli Vaniglia at $144 - $153, which they say is a black finish.

Thanks for all the recommendation. Will look into each more in detail!
and thanks cortez, you even attached the photos :)
Reason why I wanted black because I thought wooden look a little old for my age (29). Fine sandblasted might be okay too. Since black is painted, will the color go away after some time?

I kinda like the peterson, savinelli and butz choquin.
how do I choose between these brand as I don't know much about them.
Are they more or less equal in terms of quality?

Yes. They're all in the same general price range you set in the OP.

Petersons enjoy a better reputation than BC, but few if any people here have criticized the BC's they own.

I have one of each brand, though not the pipes pictured above. I like the BC better because it's lighter in weight;

but my Peterson is one of the most comfortable pipes I have. Savinelli is a pretty sure bet also -- I have two.

It's pretty much a toss-up IMO.

Getting tough with more choice now :)
Most likely savinelli vaniglia / and the lasr 2 bc is what im considering now
Peterson one has a vulcanite stem which require work to remove oxidation now and then

FWIW, go with the Savinelli. I have a bunch and they are all great for the money. You won't be sorry. My BC's are nice too but the Sav's give a great bang for the buck.
