hey guys im new here, i started smoking pipe 2 months ago..here are my pipes

savinelli piazza di spagna 645

chacom champs elysees 425
i have a question.. the savinelli and chacom are not broken in yet, how do i break them in? also one more question

can i use the same pipe for the whole day then switch to another the next day? i usually go about 7 bowls a day in same pipe..please leave me ur answers..help ..

I don't do that, Ill smoke maybe two a day in one pipe tho.

If they're bare wood you should smoke partial bowls slowly graduating up, make sure to smoke slow and all the way to the bottom.

If the bowls are carbon lined, just loadem up and go.

when i go backpacking i take what i call my beater pipe and smoke it all day and for the whole trip no rest time and it is fine, granted this a pipe i use when i do not want to break another. as for breaking in many people have many styles such as half fill and smoke then the next bowl 3/4ths then smoke. i just stuff and puff.

that is how i personally do it and then i smoke it slow. if you put the bowl to your cheek and it feels HOT and you will know the difference between hot and warm ;et it go out then relight when it is cool.

I wouldn't 7 bowls out of one of those nice pipe, especially if they're not broken in. I usually take a couple of cobs with me if I feel I'll get to smoke a few bowls. And I would follow fshu2 and Chris' lead and smoke'em slow and cool. Welcome aboard, btw.

I've got a beater for fishing and such, sure..I was referring to everyday pipes, especially those brands..jmho.

That's how I do it.It then get a thorough cleaning and put in the rack for about 2 weeks. You might not want to do that with a new pipe.

As someone who abuses his pipes quite regularly, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that smoking alot of bowls in one day is perfectly fine. As long as you give it some rest afterwards. I give mine about 2 days, but I have around 14 pipes in rotation.
As for breaking them in, I just put on a stiff upper lip, load that sucker, and light 'er up! In my experience a non-broken in pipe simply doesn't smoke as cool. Thats about it. So like the others suggested, I'd reccomend smoking slow. Like one puff every 5-10 seconds slow. Excruciatingly slow.
My other advice, would be to get a few cheap pipes to throw in your rotation to allow for some more rest. My advice? Wellington, Dr. Grabow, or Brigham are all sub-$50 pipes that have excellent reputations. At the $60 range, you can go Peterson, Savinelli or perhaps Stanwell.
Of course, you could just give the bird, and smoke 'em till they keel over. You'd be surprised at how resiliant Briar is. They won't be pretty, but, this hobby for me, is about smoking. I couldn't give a rat's behind what my pipes look like.
