Which iteration are you referring to? Duke Street? Murray's? Or the STG produced?
Good luck getting any of them. The big differences between those productions is the availability of the components at the time of production. This is especially true of the Latakia. I only have the STG left and I only break a tin open for special occasions. For my taste , it is better than any current production English.

BTW, I, differentiate a true English blend from other blends that, I deem, to fall into sub-categories (ie. Scottish, American English, Balkans, or VaOrs). I know many consider these just marketing terms but, I have always treated these as separate defined (sub) genres. For example, I would never refer to Balkan Supreme as an English blend.{For my tastes, I believe it is the most overrated blend I frequently see recommended in this forum, both as an English and as a Balkan. If you would like an inexpensive Balkan, Sutliff Balkan II is a better choice IMO}.

Thanks for the clarification. What component makes a blend Scottish? Sometimes I see that cavendish is added other times no.

Over three pages and Artisan's Blend was only mentioned once. Give some time to try others then try Artisan's Blend. And definitely try Balkan Supreme. GLP English/Balkan blends are almost always good. EMP, and other Dunhill/Peterson blends are also great. Peterson Old Dublin need a little time for Latakia to settle, but once it does, great blend.. List goes on.

I usually smoke the Match 965, I find it closer to the old Dunhill and Murray’s. I keep the STG 965 around but, I find it has a queer taste that, most would probably call chemical. I have not quite been able to define it. It is not necessarily off putting but, but it is not my expected taste for 965. 965 used to have Syrian Latakia so, nothing will be “the same”.
If you prefer tins to bulk you might try McConnell Marylebone. It is their copy of 965. It is definitely representative of a Scottish mixture. It is good. I still prefer the Match.

Shipment just arrived today. This pipe is MASSIVE. Loaded up some Sextant, and I have to say, I'm glad they didn't put too much rum on it otherwise it would have drowned out the lat and orientals, and especially the DFK, I was afraid that might be a problem but it's not. I can just barely pick out all the flavors, and just enough sweetness from the rum. Excellent! Can't wait for it to settle in the jar a bit longer so it can express itself. I'll try Bayou Night here in a moment, and Abingdon tomorrow.

Bayou Night is a good one, though it took some growing on me before I fully appreciated it for what it is. Go slow if you don’t have a high nic tolerance. The Perique and Burley have bowed the heads of more than a few.
Unfortunately I have a massive nicotine tolerance. I don't even smoke cigarettes, no history of smoking them either. I can smoke back to back Picayune, Bold Kentucky, Vertical Limit, Five Brothers, etc and while I feel it, it doesn't make my head spin, and I can do it on an empty stomach, though eating first makes the tobacco taste better. In fact, I was at a friend's house the other day and just on a hunch, I smoked a turquoise label American Spirit and inhaled 12 draws and it did not have appreciable nicotine effect in me, though my lungs definitely didn't like it. I'll be sticking to the pipe that's for sure

Same with me and the Picayune, though I’ve never smoked more than a few cigarettes in my life. You ought to be good then. ?
