Well, to pick nits, the briar sucked, but click made a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
Really great work. And, SJM, I bet you'll love the heck out of that!

Thought I read here years ago that Disney had Comoy's build the pipes for his franchise. If so, I'm shocked that such a class company would allow this to leave the factory. And, whoever accepted the original pipe into inventory should've been horsewhipped. What an embarrassment.
SJMiller, you got very, very lucky. Click returned a refreshing pitcher of lemonade eked from the single, moldy and withered lemon you sent him. He's got mad skills plus the patience of Job sorting out all those fills. (Thirty seven, right? 37 fills and blemishes. Damn!)
Please let us know how it smokes and please send pix when you're fitted for the Cumberland stem.

I recently did a Jobey for fnord. I forgot to take before pics, but he can post a few after pics if he is so inclined.

Sure,
I used an exacto knife and needle file to cut/pick out the mastic fills. I then used nylon tape, 3 layers, to protect the areas I wanted to remain smooth. Then I put a rubber stopper in the bowl chamber to prevent any abrasive getting in.
I then subject it to 120/220 grit glass bead media at a PSI between 60 and 120 depending on the wood. Once I am happy with the look I remove the tape and use a wire brush to clean it off. Then I throw some stain on it, and finish it up.

I use an 80 gallon 2-Stage 5HP compressor. My pistol came with my blast cabinet, which I bought from a metal shop going out of business. I believe the cabinet is a Cyclone 3824.
Feel free to PM me with any questions you need specifically answered. I have no "trade" secrets.

Thank you very much, the data showed all I needed to know. It seems to me there´s no way around a large compressor when you want to use it for sandblasting.

There is a way around it but it requires a pressure pot. I believe you can use a pressure pot and pencil blaster, but it takes a lot longer to blast the entire pipe. Our own zack hamric uses a setup like that I believe. He could probably help you with it.
Otherwise, yes, you need big and lots of CFM while maintaining psi. Mine barely keeps up if that puts it into perspective.
