NASPC Columbus Pipe Show or Greater Kansas City Pipe Show?

The only pipe shows I've ever attended have been the Chicago Pipe Show. My son and I are planning on a long weekend to attend one of these shows...NASPC or GKC. Both are about 7 hours drive from home. If you have attended these shows before and could choose only one, which would you choose? And why?

I would chose the KC Show because of the carving contest they have each year. This is the tenth year of the contest and for this contest the carvers only instruction is "make the best pipe you can". Should be amazing.

I have not been to the NASPC show, but I would go there. The KC show last year was...without spark. The NASPC show seems more vibrant, starting Friday night and only being on Friday. That's where I would go.

They advertise the NASPC show both Friday night 5:00-9:00 and Saturday 9:00-5:00.

I bought my first pipes at this show about 20 years ago in Columbus. It was a pipe show at the Holiday Inn Lane Avenue in Columbus. Brings back some good memories.

I've been to the NASPC Columbus Pipe Show for the last 2 years and find it to be a nice time.The wife and I usually go Saturday...

Funny, I lived in Columbus for 4 years and was completely unaware that this pipe show existed. I'll chalk that one up as a loss.

I've alternated between KC and NASPC the last couple of years and NASPC is a larger and better attended but the hotel is No Smoking unless you get a balcony that is very small. The KC set up is very nice with the tent and banquet. The hotel is the best on the show circuit with a nice casino, spa and restaurant with many big comfortable smoking rooms to hang out in. I've heard the KC show is endangered so I might pick that one this year. 8O

2019 will definitely be the last one at its current location. Why? The PipeWorld's population is shrinking, and hotels host such events only when room minimums are guaranteed. (After this year's Chicago Letter, most show-goers are familiar with how it works :lol: ).
