I smoke 5-8 bowls a day and generally it is 1Q from Lane. Always tastes good to me. Mild and enjoyable That said, I also smoke Stokkebye 24 Nougat and CAO Eileen's Dream. Rotate them fairly often in my pipe collection.

I think many seasoned pipe smokers, while constantly seeking that wholly grail of a tobacco blend while others do not care to since they are content with constantly experimenting.
I agree. I'm much like the former. I always think the next blend I open will be the blend.

I sometimes think so much about what blend I'll smoke in which pipe, that I completely miss my smoking window. Or that I just simply don't feel like having a bowl anymore.
I don't really have an answer for you as I'm still very much an intermediate novice, like a sophomore. But what I have done is decided to pick one or 2 blends in each category and stick to those for the time being. If I feel like an aro, I only have 2 options. Same goes for the rest. If I find myself neglecting a particular blend in my "on-deck circle," I'll make a note of it in my journal, and probably won't order more of it. If I find myself continually coming back to a certain blend, this will be reflected in my journal, and I will most likely include it in a future purchase.
If I can smoke a blend for a week straight, it's likely to have found it's way as a staple in my rotation/cellar. If not, it's one of those blends that I'll come back to once in awhile to see if anything has changed.
But, forcing myself to pick among a handful of blends has really helped me out, rather than looking at everything I have to choose from

I have no where near the amount of baccy you have, Bob. I remember when you and I met on the forum and you told me how much you had - WOW! I've only got about 10 different blends and only an ounce or three of each. BUT, I already wish to narrow my field down to maybe 4. When all is done, I hope to have a morning blend or two, an all day blend, a cigar blend and an Aromatic.
I have recently watch a you tube series from Smoke Ring - in it he raved about Lane Limit RLP#6. I had tried and did not care for any Lane products, but gave this a try. All I can say is THIS is my aromatic blend. It's wonderful.

I am building a stock of a few blends in each of a couple broad categories: VA, VA / perique, latakia, and full latakia. I don't find the English / balkan distinction as useful as the fullness of the latakia profile. Beyond that, I've got some blends like Jackkinfe that I like and keep a few tins of, but won't be smoking as much as, say, Chelsea Morning. I like to smoke the same dozen or so blends. I find that the more I smoke them, the more I get to know them.
