no but you do have to draw differently. And it's more of a trick of not over drawing because to put it one way, it probably feels more restrictive then it actually is. Or at least that's my experience with smaller draft holes.

Is it a filter pipe? If so, make sure the filter is not pushed in too deep and blocking the airway.
On the last 320 I bought, the opening at the very end of the stem at the bit was very small to where it was tough to get a pipe cleaner in. I used a small drill bit and, by hand, routed the opening a bit. Made a great improvement.

No filter in it. Yes, it is the tip/ mouthpiece end. Very small opening.

I know how did it take so long. Though how long did it take before you realized connected the dots on Hanks problem and the fact that Bobby looks and acts more like Bill? Just asking cause it took me way to longer to realize that.
Gently remove the buildup from the hole in the bottom of the bowl. Falcons are known for an open draw if maintained properly. The stems have the occasional sharp metal edge that collects lint.
I think so. I think I am now leaning toward keeping it since it is about the same as my Falcons and the pipe is so beautiful with such a cavernous chamber.
My belated two cents, this is not characteristic of Savinelli nor their sub-brand Rossi. All of mine are pretty much wide-open. I'd be more interested in getting a pipe you enjoy smoking rather than identifying the problem. Most Sav's come ready-to-go with a good open draw. I'd go for that.
Yes and I don't own a pipe with a tight shank dimension. THey smoke like crap.
Couldn't you contact the vendor and explain the issue and ask them if any others of the kind they have are the same?

I have seen a Savinelli or two that seems to be plugged or have a restricted draw. Upon further inspection I had found that the chamber coating was either partially or completely covering the draft hole in the bottom of the chamber. Once I cleaned the chamber coating away from the draft hole, it was a wide open draw as usual.

Good suggestion. I will double check. I tried the draw with the stem detatched and it feels the same. It is not rough to draw or difficult to draw, just narrower than I am use to. The closest I can compare it is to the falcon shanks I have.
I did buy a Savinelli 121 Mega Rusticated 315 from SPC. It had the same narrow draft, but returned it for other reasons.
I wonder if Savinelli is switching to narrower drafts on some of thier pipe stems? All my older Savs are wider. Its wierd.
Some people prefer a narrower airway. Pros and cons. It can work very well if the chamber is loosely packed. Works better with a flat-bottomed chamber.

This is exactly correct which is why I always check the draw before smoking. I like a tight pack as for my tastes a loose pack gives me no flavor and will burn hotter than it should. Packing a pipe is a personal thing as so many people like to do it differently. Find what works for you and stick to it.
