When I was five years old President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, and that act of political violence forever changed the security afforded the President, and the Vice President.

But until yesterday, the others lower down in the Presidential line of succession seemed to be able to live without extraordinary security.

Had Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi been at her home, a deranged man would have broken in the home of the third in line for the Presidency at 2:30 in the morning, with consequences hard to imagine.

There are 435 Representatives, 100 Senators, 9 Supreme Court Justices, and 24 cabinet members, each one living in a private home, with loved ones present.

Our Constitutional Republic depends on each one being able to get a good night’s sleep,

My father used to laugh at his father, who died in 1952, predicting the time would come again everybody would be wearing a gun, or have it really close, just like the Old West.

It’s not so funny today.

In about two weeks there might well be another Speaker of the House, and Nancy is 80 years old and can’t live forever.

It’s amazing the police didn’t shoot the perp, but now he’ll get a trial that will serve to inspire every discontented degenerate in the nation there’s a Representative in his district who lives in an home with a published address.

When I was a kid it was unthinkable there’d be a massacre in a public school, church, factory, post office, or shopping place.

Going postal used to mean a trip to the post office.

I think what’s needed, is a universal fear of eternal damnation to a lake of fire that burns, but does not consume.

The punishments of law on this earth don’t seem to be working.

Governor Mike Parson and his wife Teresa live a few miles from Humansville.

It takes just one radical to terrorize the only Missouri Governor from Polk County in 200 years, and the country is chock full of them.

You couldn’t pay me enough to accept a public service elected position.

I have a family, you know?

We have a number of issues combining in an mentally unhealthy culture which rewards and exalts narcissism and a lack of filters, magical thinking, cults, dishonesty, irresponsibility, and ruthless toxicity, while offering little to counter it and less to treat organic causes for mental illness.

OK, those who stormed the Capital was wrong. But how about those who burn down the city, police department, court house.. Are the government officials' life that much more precious than those of policemen? Those of early responders? If they did their job, maybe the Capital wouldn't have been attacked that day. Is this political?

That might even be real. People's communication skills by and large suck, and a large, too large, part of my job is addressing the often expensive confusion caused by those mediocre and sucky skilled people tasked with communicating essential information. Who knows what exactly was actually said.

So, we're going to start with the "it's a false flag operation", "It's the media's fault", "it's the bleeding heart/liberal judges/prosecutors".

Judging from the reported posts of the suspect, he had bought into the wacko conspiracy theories so prevalent these days and decided to act on them. Is he mentally ill? Very possible, but so many people are spreading this type of nonsense that he is hardly the only irrational actor out there.
