I also love colorful names. And I smoke Capstan Blue on Jan 3. I do wish the tin said what it had in it, or if it had toppings so I knew what I am buying but that's what manic research is for! If I was expert, I wouldn't have anything to delve too deeply and cellar to greedily on....

Persian Slipper was a pretty good aromatic from the local B.M. back in the day. Pretty tobacco forward and super smooth and bite free. I actually thought it was named that because of the comfort and smoothness of the smoke.
I think we should convince some tobacconist to name blends after the lifers here.

Hmm, I think there are unexplored branding opportunities. Why did they ever stop at Three Nuns? The Pontiff's Predilection, Vicar's Vice, Parson's Preference, Chaplain's Choice.... they missed out. Also, classical composers - get a tin of Wagner, it goes on forever etc.

Are they made out of choir ... Never mind!

Persian Slipper sounds like the blender took a sniff and said "damned thing reminds me of ratty slipper in a back alley of Babylon."

Love how sometimes you can figure out the system a brand uses for naming tobacco but sometimes the names are just so esoteric. Examples when the name is primarially a number. Blend no 87 or the John Aylesbury blends, the only one that gives me a hint is Flake Virginia. Below that on the website I was looking at the other flakes are Classic, Commander, General, and Dragon. Those give you no clue that I can follow as to what each one tastes like what leaf it uses or even what general category it falls under. Though I do have to try Dragon because I wonder what a dragon would smoke and the one hint it gives me is a warning of severe tongue bite.

Dragon Flake never bit me. The only tobacco that ever bit me to date was Mac Baren HH Balkan. I sometimes borderline or come close to getting bit by VA blends.

Anyway, Dragon Flake is just a vanilla aro essentially. It's pretty good, great room note, pretty good after-taste.

As for stopping at Three Nuns in the ecclesiastical field, I think that was a wise move, as some of your suggestions, in the light of recent abuse scandals, are suggestive of the kind of leisure pursuit most of us would not want to be associated with. Having said that, I'm surprised that Presbyterian Mixture has never had any denominational rivals such as Catholic Cask, Russian Orthodox Rolls, Baptist Black, Coptic Cob, Wee Free Whisky Flake, Spiritualist Seance, etc.

This thread is a delight for anyone who enjoys codger watching.

I've said elsewhere that for me, one of the highlights of homebrewing (and now home-blending) is coming up with fun names for my recipes. Bad puns, obscure references, and names that obliquely hint at favorite commercial products are my stock in trade. But I don't have a legal department constantly putting the kibosh on names that entertain me, so I'm free to do what I want with my own blends.
