So I just got a new pipe today and I can't wait to smoke it. It is a Savinelli Trevi Smooth. It came with these Balsa filter type things and I was also just wondering if I have to use them on this pipe...But overall I think it will be a big step up from my first pipe which is a Q-Brand that I cannot find any information on. Maybe someone on here knows the brand?
I will try to post pictures if I figure out how to do so...
P.S. Is there anything I need to do to the Savinelli before I smoke it?

This is the Savinelli.
Edit: Good first attempt. Instead of the URL, Copy the Image Address. (Right Click the photo then copy the Image Address. That's what you put in the "IMG" box. Fixed for you, Lawrence
Thanks Lawrence!

Welcome Jerome!

First: I (as do many here) just throw away the filter.

Second: Instructions For Posting Pictures This will probably help.

Third: Yup! You should probably put some tobacco in your new Savinelli before you stoke that puppy up! (Just teasing.) :D

Glad to have you aboard!

:puffy:

Edti: Good looking pipes.

Hullo and welcome to the forum Jerome.
Run a dry pipe cleaner through that Sav, load it up and smoke it. Use of the filters is strictly up to you.

My Savs, all of my filter pipes for that matter, smoke just fine without filters.

Ahoy Jerome,
I don't know a lot about Savinelli's but if they're worth the $$$ they cost, I'm sure it's a decent one.
I rather like the contours of the Q-brand you posted above. I almost always prefer a bent stem.
Regarding balsa filters, I just bought some 9mm generic balsa wood filters for my new pipe, a Ukrainian import.

They work just fine. Like Lawrence I would rather not use a filter, I enjoy the tobacco too much to reduce it.
However, if your pipe is anything like mine, and is fresh and never smoked, you might want to use a filter as you break it in the first few fills because it can help cut down on unpleasant tastes.

Those are handsome pipes, my friend. You have probably found them to be quite a step up from your first pipe. I tried the balsa filter in my Sav, but found that the pipe draw was better without the thing. I did purchase an adapter to replace the filter though, since it seemed that the open filter space affected the draw as well. Enjoy! :puffy:

I only have one blend which is the Mac Baren Roll Cake. It smoked pretty good last night...don't know what type of tobacco I should get next though.
