Christian Wolfsteiner makes very organic pieces. I've been debating one for a while.
You have a very good eye, Embers. Christian did make some usual pipes, and this one is no exception. It has been in my collection for I think three years now. It is unsmoked and I intend to keep it this way. I have a special purpose for this pipe and I hope to get it into its rightful owners hands at the next Chicago Pipe Show.

One of Christians pipes recently sold on eBay and I watched it all the way. The next time I run across one for sale, I’ll let you know.

I wonder if it’s being pressed and not block meerschaum made it more susceptible to breaking.
Strambach uses "cultured" meerschaum. Raw block meerschaum cannot be exported from Turkey by law. "The Danish Pipe Shop" says it is pressed meerschaum... That being said - All meerschaum pipe shanks are inherently brittle, but when they do break they can usually be repaired and banded.

It still surprises me that meerschaum is no longer mined in the U.S.
