Thanks for all of the comments and well wishes. I know it is a difficult road but he is one who has never chosen an easy path. Not real sure where he got that from.
To all of you guys from the other services, thanks for your service, but GO AMRY BEAT NAVY! (this could go on forever) :D
Wow, sorry I didn't see this post 3 yrs ago! I graduated from NMMI, class of 77'

Monty, glad to see a NMMI Alum here. You know what that school is all about and how hard it is. I hope it gives him a good background for the Army.
Thanks again to you all. I will update this post on occasion and let you know his progress at West Point.

BOOYAH!
I've got several friends, Woo Poo and Canoe U grads, and plebe year for your boy is going to suck the high hard one. If he can gut it out, and I'm sure he can, he's a made man. I couldn't be happier for him and your family. That Harvard on the Hudson degree will carry him a long way in life.
The New York Times writer, Joe Drape, spoke several years ago at Washburn University about his Kansas football book, “Our Boys: A Perfect Season on the Plains With the Smith Center Redmen.” During the Q&A afterwards I asked him about "Soldiers First: Duty, Honor, Country, and Football at West Point." He told me it was a labor of love. Love of the game and love of spending time with his son.
Here's a school that used to knock it out, season after season, with Notre Dame, Oregon and USC for the national championship fallen on hard times. And today those young men kept grabbing a root and growling to beat Navy.
Please PM your address. I'd love to send your son a copy.
By the way, we're a Navy household but we were also quietly happy to see Army carry the day last November, beat the jinx, and sing second.

It has been a while since I have updated this post. My son is now an official Plebe at the United States Military Academy at West Point. He loves it there and is doing very well. He is looking forward to all that comes with being a cadet. He is used to the structure and the military school culture. It is defiantly more difficult than NMMI but he received a good background there for this new life. This picture is him marching in the parade this weekend for George Bush's Thayer Award ceremony in full dress uniform. It is hard to believe I started this post four years ago. He has grown into a man and is growing into a soldier. I guarantee you, there are many like him there and West Point is an incredible place. He is one of many who truly believe in Duty, Honor, Country. Go Army, Beat Navy!

What a great feat for your son and your family. Not everyone gets to carry and M-14 in parade formation, you have to earn that!
