Hey everyone! I am new to this forum, and in fact have not yet smoked a pipe, but above are pictures of a chamber I made just this afternoon (I am in Europe).

My first project was a comic looking, very tall and thin pipe with an oak chamber and a mahogany stem. It is so narrow I can stick a little Tuscan cigar in it and smoke that to the end...

I thought with this one I would try something a little simpler. I actually lopped the wood off a pear tree in my garden just today, so the wood has yet to dry out fully (somehow it actually smells of pear a bit), but it was hard and dry enough to work with so I'm just hoping it won't crack too badly.

As previously mentioned it is pear wood, and I am using an aluminium tenon to join it to an eventual stem, which I think I will make from wood and then coat in epoxy for longevity (possibly just the mouthpiece).

I have read on this forum that with corncob pipes the stem is glued to the chamber. Is this true, and if so does anyone know what type of glue they are using?

Cheers,
PeterSam
