My Sad Visit to Wild Bills Tobacco

Fairly new to cigars of 5 years. Because I’m a pipe guy of course. During those years I’ve purchased about 100 or a more cigars online with many of them still in my humidor. So, I have a little bit of an idea of what I’m doing. I’ve never tried a Cameroon wrapped cigar. So I thought. Hey let’s give a brick and mortar some love, they deserve it right?

I asked if they had anything with a Cameroon wrapper. They didn’t know what that was and had to look it up on the computer. The look on their faces was funny. It was almost as if the question scared them half to death. All women. Just an observation. They couldn’t find anything in their large humidor room.

I purchased an average cigar and politely said thank you as I left.

80% of the store is for weed delivery devices so I felt as if I was walking into an embarrassing porn shop or something as I do live in a small city of 7000.

Tobacco is just not their specialty here. Perhaps it’s just a shell name and would better named wild babes bong store.

Just settled in up here in MO, and the amount of “Tobacco” shops is dizzying. I’m half suspecting that the only one worth visiting is Paul’s in Flint, and even then, I don’t know if it’s worth driving for around 4+ hours round-trip to do so.

I've visited about a dozen Wild Bill's stores in the past year. Most have decent humidors (except for the one in Menominee, which smelled like mildew last time I was there). The employees always have cigar recommendations, so I ask which cigars they prefer themselves, and then most will admit that they don't smoke cigars at all. I've only met 4 employees who actually smoke cigars themselves (and 3 of those were women). Most of the employees have no idea what they're talking about when it comes to cigars, so it's a pleasure to meet the rare few who do.

Still, it's much better than Sweet Fire Pot Paraphernalia Tobacco.

It’s a long drive for me also. I’ve purchased two of their Cayuga pipes and arrow tobacco. Great stuff. My first visit the owner took me on a tour around the upper and lower floors with all their tobacco storage and pipe making tools. Great history lesson included. Then we hung out and smoked a pipe. I highly recommend going there. They deserve it.

Are you still on the look for a Cameroon wrapper? You should be able to find an Arturo Fuente 858 Natural, Hemingway Natural, or Don Carlos, depending on how much you want to spend, pretty easily. They all use Cameroon wrappers and are benchmark smokes.

Every Wild Bills I have visited stocks the Arturo Fuente Curly Head Natural, and at least one or two sizes of Hemingway. Most have the H Upmann Vintage Cameroon, but Fuentes are better.
