With only two years of smoking behind me, I'm still exploring varieties, brands, and my own flavor preferences. I would like a better game plan in finding the direction to pursue. (If there is a web page designer out there who wants to make some green: Build a web site that displays all tobaccos with a simple like/don't like option linked to each user. This would clearly define the "if you like 'baccy X' you'll might like 'baccy Y'" statement)
I tried PS bulk Proper English and decided that Latakia tastes a little sweaty to me. But it is one of the few tobaccos that I can actually taste!

I've tried a variety of Boswell's aromatics which it found pleasant but not tasty.

I tried the PS bulk twist flake, bulls eye, and navy flake and found them plain (or just old from my BnM)

I like Orlik Golden Sliced but I would like something with less spice (recommendations please).

The Sutliff Perfect Match recommended Country Estate (really like) and Kentucky Planter (nice and plain).

I didn't want to like aromatics but I like 1-Q and really like Lane's Very Cherry (I can taste it!).

Any professional direction/inspiration would be appreciated!

Hi Pete, have you tried Erinmore Flake yet? I'd put it in between the aros and the Orlik GS.

I recently put the Erinmore Flake on my list. I'll bump it to the top. Thanks!

I've heard good things about both Northwoods and Mississippi River. Is the latakia very present either of those?

For a blend like Golden Slices but without the perique, I'd recommend Samuel Gawith's Full Virginia Flake, Dunhill Flake, and Dan Tobacco's Hamborger Veermaster.

As ghost said, Erinmore Flake may be up your alley.
I would add the following recommendations: Marlin Flake. Peterson University Flake and Dunhill Royal Yacht.
Marlin Flake: sweet Virginias with stewed fruit, rather than peppery, Perique.
University Flake: rich plum flavors
Royal Yacht: Sweet, bready Virginias.
