I was delighted to find this Preben Holm at an antique shop. For the wonderful price of 15.00.
Although the stem is broke, it is an original PH marked stem. My question, well one of them is when this pipe was made? No doubt it is a pre-Ben Wade. Would this pipe have been imported for sale in the US? Any information on this beauty would be greatly appreciated by me.

Many of the Ben Wades were carved by Preben's students in his workshop but that one is definitely a Holm. Appears to have been stripped of its stain.

I honestly don’t think it ever had any stain applied no signs anywhere. All I did was wipe it with some Murphy’s Oil soap.

What a find. I don't even see mundane pipes in the flea markets and antique stores in my area, much less anything like this ... for fifteen bucks.

I'd be very conservative in restoring this. I sure wouldn't apply any stain or other finish, even if an expert confirms this had a stain or other finish. It's more of a historical piece as is. I'd be restrained and gentle with what I did. I'd go easy or simply refrain from reaming, unless you are fully experienced with reaming.

Needless to say, that's a prize. If it were me, I gladly smoke it, since that is its intended purpose.

It has been smoked, a bit but not by me,. There is no cake buildup and I really don’t feel like adding to it, lol like I said all I have done is hit it with a little bit of Murphy’s oil soap. I would like to find another bit that was PH Marked, but I think that might be fairly impossible. So it is what it is. I would really like to find out what year it was actually made there are no code letters or numbers or anything that would suggest Lane. The only identifying feature besides Preben Holm and made in Denmark is the style, stamped, Delight.

I have one that is very similar. A great smoker!

I recently restored this Harcourt that was given to me by my uncle. Searching the internet I discovered Harcourt was a Dunhill branch focused on Danish-style freehands managed by Preben Holm. Does anybody know how can I say if this was actually made by him?
