Sorry to hear this! Are you going to get another dog? Some people find it does help when they are ready. It worked wonders for my grandparents after they lost their pup.

I'm in same boat as Sigmund. We have horses, dogs and cats and are waaaay attached to them for every facet of our lives. The pain is sharp and you'll always remember them and they will hold a special place in your heart. Focus on the good memories.

It is a rough day in our household because my pipe smoking buddy has passed away. He was my four footed, hairy Lab mix who always laid at my feet while I smoked my pipe. He was with me constantly, but he lost his battle with Cushings disease. He enjoyed life up until the last week when things got really bad for him. The house doesn't seem the same without him and the cat dearly misses "her dog". She would groom him and rub up against him. I had my pipe with Iwan Ries Old Colonial and my coffee and just remembered all the good times I had with my "good boy."View attachment 301526View attachment 301528

I am very sorry for you and your whole family. A pet IS a member of the family and the loss is hard. I feel nervousness myself as our pooch is getting up in years too and I know that day is coming.
