Whatever happened to that Father the Flame movie that those hipsters who came on the radioshow and got us all to give them money? If they are still working on it, then they're taking longer than Disney did to hand draw a movie.

Yep, they're still working on it. Maybe they are hand drawing each frame or something.

I remember seeing this a couple years back. Very charming piece with terribly maudlin choices for the music track.
They went out of business shortly after the doc was filmed.

@sable, After watching it I searched for the company and read that the owner retired in 1992 and the company was bought by another bigger one to continue the tradition.

A touching piece. Seems like the 19th Century!
Sable, though the music is, uh, dreadful, would it be better in HiFi? Conversion from a lousy source to a poor format is a winner! The first piece sounded like it might have been something or other that was vaguely familiar in style.

Here it is:

John Pollock & Company of Manchester, England began making clay pipes in 1879 and continued until Gordon Pollock's retirement in 1992. Not wanting to see such a classic tobacco art form end, Wilsons & Company purchased the molds and the Pollock name, continuing the legendary art of clay pipe making. Many of the original hand-pressed molds are still in use.
