You think it would work with rubbed out flake? When I pack rubbed out flake I pay special attention to filling in the sides as I go layer to layer, that gives me a much more even burn. I honestly do not have issues with heat because of my packing method. My only issue with heat is when I smoke too quickly and nothing can help that except a really thick walled quality pipe. I have some pipes that no matter how quickly I smoke, they do not heat up.

This is the only way I've been loading my pipe for the last month or two and it works perfectly. Really works best with fine ribbon cuts.

The method is ingenious and does work. My only complaint with it is that if you use aromatics, the top of the pipes get gummed up pretty quickly.
@wayneteipen - sounds like a good method, will be giving that a try tonight.

I've never done this, I'll try it. I use the roll the tobacco into a ball and stuff it method, which I guess is a simplified Frank method which works pretty well for me. Better than the 3 phase packing method.
This guy's voice is so soothing I'm going to just listen to his other videos while I work...

Gonna give this a try tonight. A friend does this method with his pipe but I think he tries to pack way too much tobacco and he's always relighting his pipe.

I took me a few tries over the last couple of days but I finally got the hang of this type of packing. It looks pretty strange but the results tell the story. My smoke tonight was perfect. Only had to relight 4 times and one of those was when I got too busy talking to smoke. It smoked cool, it smoked dry. I'm amazed and this might be my new go-to packing method.
Thanks for the video,

Sou
