Good luck sneaking it past her. Every so often, I get a new pipe that I don't wish to have her notice, so I just lie low with it, and one day just smoke sort of casually while sitting down and reading. SWMBO walks past and says: "say, isn't that a new pipe? When did you get it?" So the best thing I can say to you is: enjoy your new pipe.

My wife sent me the online Pipe Gazette which originates in France, the mother church of briar pipes, and

lo' and behold, who was the featured pipe maker in this issue (you select for the English translation incidentally)

but L. Roush! When the French elect to feature you on their home ground of pipe making, that's quite a compliment.
