That is Cadogan era stamping, started after the merger in 1981. Yours is one of the rarer ones that also have the pre-Cadogan brass rondell. I have one as well. While I have no proof, I suspect these pipes were made early in '81 after the merger and brass rondells were used until the inventory was exhausted. These pipes also seem to have a letter stamped near the shape number. My pipe smokes as well as my other pre-Cadogan pipes so I hope yours will as well. Perhaps older inventory briar was also still in use at this time.

Thanks for all your help with this gentlemen, it's really appreciated. I've fixed up the stem's oxidization and cleaned out the inside of the stem using pipemasters clean and cure. I think it looks pretty dam good for my first estate. I'm not very handy so I'm pretty proud of myself!

No it's black the flash is crazy bright and I have to lower the resolution so I can post the pictures on this forum
