My "new" 313

Got a Pete 313 in from FleaBay tonight.

Got out the baking soda and toothpaste and got to work

Came out OK, I think!
I'm really digging the estate pipe thing. A good $40 dollar investment.

Thanks for the feedback guys! One thing I have noticed about this pipe is that the bend in the stem is not as pronounced as other Peterson's I see (or as much as my 314). It doesn't appear to make much difference in any practical way, but it was kind of weird.

That's a nice pipe, and cleaned up well. I have had the vulcanite stems straighten some some due to the heat. There are several postings here related to rebending stems; I have put a pipe cleaner into the bore, lightly heated the stem with a Bic lighter, and bent the thing to the desired shape. Then I quickly quenched it with water. Of course, you would have to repolish afterwards. My favorite old Pete is an XL315 system rustic that I got from eBay years ago, and I love those P-lips. Hope yours gives years of service.

The bend is actually kind of good, and it smokes great! Thanks for the complements on the stem, my cramped up hands thank you as well! A little bit of oxidation is still there, but not anything you'd really notice and Burt's Bees seems to help.

What did you use to clean the stem? I've tried a few different ways but have yet to find "the way".

Try Barkeeper's Friend if you can get some. Works perfectly on stems.
