Greetings gentlemen!

Well, as a belated birthday treat, the wife, dog & self visited one of my favourite places on earth this weekend - Whitby! Didn't have to leave Yorkshire too 😁

Managed to sit near the pier and smoke some of my own blend in a Falcon Coolway (great travelling pipe) taking in the rolling North Sea waves. A real blessing for the soul.

The following day was awful weather, but I managed to visit a great Tobacco Specialist store in Scarborough (thebackyshop.co.uk) where I treated myself to my very first Nording Freehand. At just £80 (approx. U.S. $100) it seems a very nice bargain). Smokes beautifully & has a generous sized bowl too 😋

Deo gratias 🙏🏻

I believe Whitby is where Dracula entered the country from Transylvania. That would never happen now of course, Nigel Farage would be there to harange and heckle him as he stepped off, poor Drac lol

I'm not 100% sure but my understanding is that after departing from a ship arrived in the port, ol' Drac made his way to the little church graveyard just down from the Abbey...the rest, as they say, is history 😁

I went to Whitby nearly 30 years ago. Nice place. Was considering a holiday in that area this year. I fancy seeing the train museum again.
But its a long way for me, so I'll probably go somewhere else. (long way by UK standards)

I was there 2 weeks ago, awful weather but our dog loved it, we were there visiting are friends just south of Middlesbrough, we walked in the North York Moors, not the best time of year to do this but I have climbed all over the world, so nothing to me but a big expedition for my Partner, She doesn't have much experience of hills, I'm braking her in slowly, I did manage to keep my bowl lit.

Agreed on the distance for you - same as me, as I visited north-west Wales years ago & loved it.

Would genuinely love to return but it is a trek for us, given my disability, so it something we have to be realistic about.

But never say never...

Yes, our Monday was utterly ruined by the appalling weather - everything we'd planned to do went down the drain (no pun intended 😉).

However, every cloud having a silver lining etc., I did end up with a cracking new pipe 😁
