Wow Ed - you would have totally fooled me with this one. It looks very profesional, clean, classic - a definite beauty.

Thanks Gents. I appreciate your comments! The rustication was done with a tiny dental burr.it's about .060" in diameter.

Lonestar--I was trying to copy the wirebrush finish used on Grabows.

Hardlined-I might sell it-after I get it banded. I'd try to do the banding myself but since I've never done it I'd rather have it done by someone who knows what their doing. I want to order some bands and do some practicing.

No I haven't Frank. Set it in a rack and more or less forgot about it! Was chatting(by PM) with Steve Laug over at SF last night about bands. He bought a kit from PME.Has several different styles of bands in different sizes. I want to get one of the kits and try my hand at banding. Have an old Mastercraft pickaxe with a cracked shank that I'd like to fix also.

You have talent, my friend. This is not coming from an expert, but a pipe-making hopeful. My substitute for talent is persistence. A non-centered draft hole is smokeably unimportant unless it is actually high in the bowl. My draft (horizontal) centering is critical, as I bore a sharp-tapered chimney from midpoint down. I cover-up any minor internal inaccuracies with fresh tobacco!

Ed, what's the pipe in your avatar? Something you made? Looks like a pretty nice poker.
