I'll be turning the big 50 soon, and I've decided to buy one last pipe, and then concentrate on tobacco and smoking. Since I don't collect pipes for the sake of collecting, and since I have more pipes than I smoke, I'm going to stick to my decision.

I'm thinking about a Falcon. That way, I can get more bowls and not technically break my new rule ? I had it narrowed down to a gourd calabash, a Tyrolean, and a Falcon. Oh, and one of those cool looking Monarch system pipes, but I haven't run across one in decent condition(if anyone spots one, let me know!?).

Anyone have an opinion? I have a little time to make up my mind, so any thoughts would be appreciated!

You should do what makes you happy. A Falcon makes sense for the flexibility of different bowls. That said, why limit yourself? There are less years ahead of most of us than ones behind. If ten pipes appeal to you in the next year, why not indulge?
I get your point. However, in my case, I tend to be compulsive. Years ago, I had dozens and dozens of pipes, most of which were lost in a move. But of those I only regularly smoked a handful of them. Now my collection is much smaller, but I still only smoke 5 or 6 regularly, the others I hardly touch except to dust them :ROFLMAO: So I'm trying to simplify a bit.

Naturally, if I run across something amazing I will break my rule.?

Will a modern bowl fit an original American Falcon? I've been hesitant to get new bowls for my two early generation Falcons for fear of ending up with Meerschaum and briar paperweights.
All the bowls I’ve ever tried works. I’m unaware of sizing differences. Maybe I just keep getting lucky or ignorance is bliss and I’m extremely blissful.

I support this. I also am in no hurry to have more pipes then I can regularly smoke. I also have plans for one more. I want a lakelands pipe. It's the one time I feel like dedication is important. I say go with the falcon. I smoke my two falcons very often. I feel like the best way to explain one to someone unlike us who has never owned one. It works like a filter that doesn't kill any flavor.
