My Grandfather's Cigar

My Grandfather smoked cigars and pipes his whole life. When he would run out of pipe tobacco he used to put his half smoked cigar into his pipe bowl and smoke that. Just remembered how funny he looked. He was the best!

A few members here do that and send photos, and may again. My dad used to do that now and then. He smoked Granger in his pipe almost exclusively and smoked King Edward cigars.

Reason I bring it up is that in Europe semois can be purchased in small cigar like nubs that can be inserted into the pipe- regardless you should try and track down so semois leaf and try it while you still can - it's like cigar meets burley in a pipe

I have a friend with a TBI that does exactly that. His motor skills aren't up to the task of holding a stogie, but he manages a cob pretty well.

My grandfather "smoked" (when he couldn't he chewed on the foot, eating off a few inches) Dutch Masters, as much paper as tobacco. He grew up in the Depression and would never smoke anything better. Miss him.

I didn’t know this! I’m growing semois this year so I will definitely have to try this now.

edit: just did a quick google search and can’t find anything similar to what you are talking about. Do you have any links? Pics? Just thinking about when I come to rolling whether I will be taking a stick approach or doing a twist and then cutting into chunks

They are called bouchons, but I haven't seen any for sale online.

I did that recently with a Montecristo No 4 that had a bad wrapper and started to fall apart. Not my favourite way of smoking a cigar but it worked just fine to not have to throw it out.
