Trying to do the math on your generations. My grandparents were born around then, too. But I'm several months shy of 70 and my mother was 41 when she had me. So 1 or 2 of your generations must have featured much older men with younger wives who gave birth.

My grandmother was born in 1907, 14 years younger than my grandfather. My mother was born in 1947 and I was born in 1978. My grandfather passed away before I was born but my grandmother lived until 1994 and I got to spend a lot of time with her.

I cleaned it up a bit with some metal polish and cut down the cork knocker. I’m still debating whether or not to permanently glue the cork.
