Well done! I'm partial to the "Challenger" myself. Nice price for both a real deal.

Thank you kindly :) the Barlings Challenger surprised me, the largest bowl I own now. Bigger than the pic gave credit to, and it seems to be like new. It was a polite fella I won the auction from. I overpayed shipping, as I paid shipping costs on both pipes, he promptly informed me that he was going to combine the pipes and that he already refunded my paypal. I love this hunt for refurbed pipes at affordable prices! Some real gems out there. :puffpipe:

How do you know if the pipe has been refurbed or not? Do sellers typically list in the item descriptions?

Yes they do. Some are pipe carvers themselves or have worked for different Estate shops, like dunhill or are just real pipe skillful people. Look at their feedback on ebay first. Find a seller that basicly just sells pipes, thats a must. Not an antique or something dealer that just happens to have a pipe for sale. These guys specialise in refurbishing pipes, it's their business. You should also be able to ask questions and receive promt informative replies. Stay away from the ones that scream at you in the headline with capital letters and a bunch of !!! type crap. Thats a give away to a pushy used car seller pushing lemons.. Take your time and don't get rolled over by glamour photos either. I've been involved in antique/collection buying selling online for a long time, though not pipes but it's all basicly the same thing.

Wonderful acquisitions . What you say about buying pipes on line is true. Someone who is pretty much a dealer in pipes is always your best bet for refurbished pipes. I tend to buy a lot of dogs to refurbish myself because I like doing it

Nice pickups bully! I'm partial to the Barlings Challenger, being a billiard fan. Is that considered a "pot" style? It does seem to have healthy proportions. May they smoke like the clouds of Elyisum for you!
