I finished off a bowl of Dan Tobacco Treasures of Ireland Shannon and let the pipe cool a bit and just dropped some Boswell's Honey Roast in it. Pipe still seems to work! Seriously, I'm not having any trouble sorting out the differences I can sort out (not that I sense a lot of nuances, but enough). I do have a couple pipes that only see one tobacco or type but overall don't worry about it. Guess I haven't smoked enough out of any particular pipe to notice the issues some legitimately do notice.

Welcome from central N.C. I usually scoop out the chamber after each smoke, clear the airway with a pipe cleaner, and wipe out the chamber with an abrasive paper towel. No problem with ghosting unless we are talking about a Lakeland blend with rose geranium, then just designate one pipe for those. You might try a pouch each of Amphora Virginia and another of burley, just to experience the two standard base tobaccos without favoring, which are quite good as is.

Welcome from Alabama. I think your wise as a beginner to not spend a lot until you understand what you like and why. I also only had a Country Gentleman for several years I used occasionally. I would try several blends to see what you like. A small investment of a couple of ounces of different blends well help you learn what you like. Get some Newminister 400 to discover what a Virginia blends are like. Get something like Pegasus or Amphora burly to try burly blends Someone else will have to point you to English blends (not my bag I have tried Presbyterian) You have sampled aromatics (the only one that does anything for me is KBV Burly Morning Pipe love that blend) . Clean your pipe good between different styles of tobacco understand if you smoke a Virginia after a aromatic you will taste the aromatic for a bowl or two ghosted in the pipe. Try a few bowls of each blend see what your tastes tell you and do this several times before making up your mind. See where your tastes lead you eventually you will devote pipes to one genera of blends and you may have so many pipes that you have a different pipe for every day of the month ? but for now just find out if you like the pipe and and what you like. If your Country Gentleman does not survive this adventure or is permanently ghosted 10 bucks gets you a brand new one (I doubt that will happen they are amazingly rugged)

Howdy & welcome @Wrongway Feldman , from Katy, TX, USA
I also smoked my 1x single pipe, a generic briar-carved bent apple, for years with no detrimental effects.

The most effective discovery step I ever took was to order about 15 different tobaccos (a mix of tins & bulk) and try them all out - keeping some notes about what I liked, disliked, discovered, etc.
I repeat that a couple of times every 3x years or so, just to try more variety. It's hard not to while following this forum - there are so many great descriptions of tobacco styles, flavors, and so forth to read about.
I have several that I keep available year-round now and I typically buy them in bulk and jar them up. My loosely controlled but ongoing-collection of tobacco is referred to on these forums as TAD: Tobacco Acquisition Disorder

Similarly, I no longer own a single pipe. I'll admit to more than a dozen and less than 100. Also see PAD: Pipe Acquisition Disorder

Welcome! Please capitalize all words in title except really short ones. Rule 9. -jpm

Hi folks! Wrongway Feldman here and this is my first post!
So, I'm new to pipe smoking and I have only one pipe. It's a Missouri Meerschaum, Country Gentleman.
I've only smoked one blend of Tobacco so far, Sutliff - Z92 Vanilla Custard.
I want to try some different aromatics. A friend said that I should buy more pipes if I'm going to be switching blends.
At this point I'm not 100% committed to staying as a pipe smoker so I really don't want to make the investment just yet. Just the same, I would like to try some other blends to help me make the decision to keep smoking or not.
So, for test purposes, is it OK to just clean the same pipe between blends?
Any opinions on the subject are welcome.

Welcome. Love the name and avatar. It comes, as the poster knows, from a character on Gilligan's Island. For some reason, although not a fan of the show, the funny name stuck in my brain and I would use it to redirect both kiddos and puppies when they were wandering about. Nice memory.

A very iconic episode from the first season! That was Hans Conried, the same fellow who supplied the voice for Captain Hook in Disney's Peter Pan.

Please put your location in your Profile, as people are forgetful.
Why:
That will save questions in the future as to where you live when you later mention local stores, weather, tobacco prices, availability, regulations, location of photos, wildfires, air quality, etc. In many instances that saves time for those who read your posts. It cuts down on posts or PMs asking where you are.
How:
Under your avatar, (top right, left most of three symbols) you choose "Account Details", which brings up "My Account". "My Location" is halfway down. Whatever you're comfortable with- town, city, county, state. province, etc.
