Here is a quick pic of my first pipe. Still a bit to do though.

Nording why yes, and Ben Wade, etc. I got tired of losing bids on them on ebay so just decided to make one :)

Wow that looks a little too good to be the first pipe you've made.
Are you trying to pull one over on us?
How did you make that stem? Looks like a mold or maybe two pieces.

Ha, I did not make the stem. I ordered the briar from Vermont freehand and it came with the generic stem :)

Thanks for all the nice words. I'll post some more pics when I get a chance. I am waiting for my wax to come so I can give it one more sand , stain and buff. First time ever really working with wood. I already had a dremel(for messing with cobs). I bought a scroll saw at pawn shop (which sux for briar btw) some sand paper and dye.
Next one will probably be a round freehand and then maybe something traditional. Also would like to try layering the stains with different colors.
I have been going back and looking at all the work you other guys have done and its been very inspiring and educating. Mad respect!

Anthony: I love your homemade pipes! Do you still have the pickax? How did it smoke? Also love your Sav320. I would like to try to make that style but where would I get a stem?
Yes the block came pre-drilled.

I do still have it :) And it smokes like a dream. Tomorrow is my day off, and I was planning on smoking that one actually, as it delivers a nice long smoke.

lstone, very well done! I have two Nording's and they are great smokers. I think you did a great job. To my eye it looks very nicely balanced and proportioned.
