I started smoking a pipe for the first time last month. I asked my dad for one of his old pipes. My dad used the pipe for a short time. He was trying to quite cigarettes but it didn't work out. Here is a picture of the pipe and what I have purchased so far.

I also purchased a new pipe from smokeybear which just arrived today. I can't wait to try it out. Thanks for a great pipe Andrew!

I have the same Falcon pipe and bowl, minus the rusticated rim. It's a great smoker! Like others have said, your off to a nice start. I hope you like your new Trypis.

You will have to let us know how the Falcon pipe works out for you. I always wondered if the metal stem helped to cool the smoke?
Actually, I wonder why nobody has made a tobacco pipe like the A'maze'd pipe from Red Eye Metalworks. The A'maze'd is meant for cannabis, but I don't see why the principle can't be applied to tobacco pipes too... Basically, the smoke travels along a zigzag pattern in aluminum, and the smoke is cooled. It's like packing a churchwarden's stem into a compact area.

Welcome!
Nice newer Falcon - I've never been disappointed with any of mine (I'm up to eight now). Always a reliable smoke. You might want to throw in a Missouri Meerschaum cob to round out your rotation (stay away from Chinese).

I second the cob recommendation for an extra pipe or 2 in your rotation. Helps alot when trying out new blends before you decide to ghost your briars.
That trypis looks great by the way. Never tried a falcon but I know many are fans of them.

Thanks everyone!
I have enjoyed the Falcon so far. Last night I tried the Trypis and loved it! I have started out with some aros (C&D Berry Good, C&D Chocolate Cavendish, C&D Irish Blessing, C&D Apricots and Cream, Buttered Rum from local B&M). I really enjoyed the Buttered Rum which is what I started out with in the Falcon. I did not like my first go around with the Chocolate Cavendish. I also did not enjoy my first taste of the Apricots and Cream. The Berry Good which I tried in the Trypis last night was nice, but my wife complained that my beard smelled bad compared to the other times I smoked. So far the Buttered Rum is my favorite.
I think I was spoiled by the Falcon and how cool it smokes. My first go with the Trypis was definitely hotter. This may be due to the less restricted draw on the Trypis and my lack of experience.

@purplemotoman - I have tried using the "juicer" and I feel it does a fair job of holding the "juice". I did find it easier to just unscrew the bowl and shake out the "juice" when it started to gurgle.
I will add the tobaccos you suggested to my list. Thanks!

Take it slow. You have good pipes, and it looks like some good tobacco. You might want to try

a tobacco sampler or two, to find out what goes best for you. Welcome to Forums. Questions,

just ask, you'll get answers of all kinds!

Welcome! I love my Falcon. It's a real workhorse of a pipe. I keep it at work but I'm talking myself into getting another one for the garden here at home. You never feel bad about setting it down or grabbing it with dirty hands.
