I think if anyone can get the green stain right, it should be Ireland's Peterson. Several years ago, I bought a green stain billiard, not a Peterson but a Chacom, which was reportedly made especially for Iwan Ries. I will say, it has been a fine pipe, but also, the green stain has remained bright over four or five years. Some have complained that some green stain on pipes tends to gray-out over time, although this may also be the product of hard smoking, humid environment, or grease and dirt in the handling. There is something riveting about the simplicity of the straight billiard shape. The depth on the bowl of the one in the original post is impressive!

Okay, mine arrived today, and passes the pipe cleaner test. Though it has a bit of stain in the shaft, there appears to be no scoring.

Duane, those green marks down in the shaft, those are just lucky shamrocks!
Congrats on the pipe, she looks like a nice one.

I bought a Pete at Iwan Ries in May. It was deeply discounted as it had been on the shelf a long time, and the green stain was mostly gone through sun bleaching. A nice billiard spigot, a little heavier than I like now. I need to get a photo or two up.

I wonder why green stain would be more susceptible to the Sun? Can the owner redo a green stain all over himself? Can't say I've ever worked with staining anything green. I have Petes in that gloss ebony piano black finish and haven't had a bit of trouble with them.

Oh it looks even better in person! When you finish a bowl, blow the dottle out, and follow it to the pot of gold!

That's a lovely Pete, Duane. Should deliver a nice long smoke. Mine came in this morning as well and I'll try to get photos up tonight. Congrats on your first Peterson, Duane. Enjoy the heck out of it!

I think I've fallen in love with the B56 shape. This may have started a bad thing! 8O

The great thing about Peterson, is you can find many of their shapes in so many different styles. Here's a B56 Royal Irish
