Glad you like yours. I like mine. Someday I'll have that seven day set of System 312s completed ...

After all the bashing and trolling some positive mojo for my favorite brand.

I love my petes.

I have to warn you though, collecting them usually doesn't stop after a seven day set.

I started with a set of my favorite shape (03), then I moved on to two sets of the same shape in their higher end pipes (spigots and system deluxe). In the mean time your eye falls on their classic shapes, that are considered a must have (303, 80s, Mark Twain, Sherlock Holmes, ...). Then you start collecting birth year pipes, preferably in your favorite shapes. Add to that the vast quantity of new lines, year pipes, ... they are selling. It never stops, especially if you think about all the pipes they have produced in their long history and their pricing is not so bad...
For the moment I have it under control: each year I buy every new line with a silver band in my favorite shape, a year pipe and 1 or 2 silver spigots or deluxes, some pipes of my must have shapes, and I have a list of specific editions I'm looking for... in total about 10 pipes/year

You have been warned

When I send off for an Atlantic X105 Pete next week, I will have three of that particular shape. I suppose that is the start of a seven day set!
To be honest though the only Pete set I really, really lust over is the Great Explorers set (2005 I think). I would love to get my hands on that - mainly because those old polar explorers are my heroes, especially Ernest Shackleton. A set of pipes which par tribute to them would be a fine thing for me.
Alas, they seem as rare as hen's teeth. I will keep looking though. In the meantime, if anyone here ever sees them, let me know!

Petes are great smokers just take too damn long to break even with a carbon coating. I totally abhor all of their varnish like stains, especially the green one !! I hope it's not really varnish-ish and just looks like it in the pictures.
@dutch $100 might not be a big amount for someone living in UK or US but for me it's 7100 in my own money, which is a lot. ALL pipes should have higher standards and not just Dunhill. Good drilling should be a feature for all pipes even if they cost $10, all stems should be good even if they are molded.

bigbee: Wow! It sounds like a photo essay of your Petes would be a good thing.... Please!
Once your photos are on a photo hosting site (such as Imgur.com; Photobucket; Postimage; Dropbox, etc.), or on virtually any site, select the full image, then Control-click (Mac) or Right-click (Windows) on the image itself, then choose copy image location. Now paste that URL (the full web address, which should end in .jpg) into the IMG box in the reply window of the thread you're posting to.

Both of my Peterson's were gift estates. Both are excellent smokers. I may one day buy a new Pete but may just stick with estates.

I am really getting into the Peterson system pipes. The 303 is my favorite shape too.

I got my first Peterson this week, a mini calabash with smooth finish.

It is new in box, but not sure how long ago it was made.

The logo paint is not filled perfectly and the flat rim surface isn't totally smooth like they didn't wax it enough.

Otherwise the grain is nice, and the logo is stamped nice and full.

I am happy with it and will definitely try a system pipe later, maybe a churchwarden too.
