My First Mix Update - The Mixmasters Were Absolutely Right

I think I'm going to mix up a little of this Isle of Islay mix when I get the chance. Might even have to try a teensy bit in the Cherry, hmmm smoked cherry?

A friend dove deeply into whole leaf mixing and produced some quite smokable results. I have just enjoyed what is commonly available. I’m happy with visiting the tobacconist but understand I have options!

I had about a 75gr or so of the Smoker’s Pride Whisky left over in a small can so I thought I would try a little latakia in it. I went really light, probably 12 or 15 to 1 just enough to get it barely on the edge of perception and all I can say is Wow! I am impressed! I quite liked the Smoker’s Pride as a basic budget pipe blend but a whisper of latakia really elevates this from a budget blend to a real premium blend. The latakia harmonizes perfectly with the Whiskey topping and cools and slows the blend down just a bit. It adds some depth to the flavour and brings out a little complexity. I've been smoking this mixture a lot for the last couple days, it's a winner!
