At a garage sale????? Some of you seem to live in areas where pipe smokers are not a rarity, so you can turn up some fine pipes. Where I am, if you ask about tobacco pipes, the people running the sale look at me as if I am asking to buy a machine gun. Like, no I'm sorry, we wouldn't have one of THOSE. Hurumph. That's a beauty, looks unsmoked or barely smoked, and is nicely done. May I ask how much you paid? You definitely have a better grade of garage sales. Congratulations.

Yup, we went garage sailing yesterday, and of course, the one day we actually go out of our way to shop, there wasn't a single sign for garage sale for 30 miles. Ended up at an estate sale. He however was not a pipe smoker. Of course the wife found things though...

It was an antique sale with a couple of blocks of booths. This one was the best one I found. I looked at a number of meerschaums. A number of tiny ones (really cool looking) but I had no idea what they were worth (the prices were 20 -60 dollars). I wanted one that had a nice case that fit. Didn't think I was interested in smoking it, just wanted to have one.
I paid 45. Seemed fair. If I knew the market better I probably should have bought a couple more. As far as regular pipes, found a couple boxes at different vendors but they all looked like run of the mill mismatched pipes. Nothing that intrigued me.

I've fallen in love with meers. They are all I smoke now and my collection of them keeps growing. Nice find, beautiful pipe!

Fine pipe for the price. Carving isn't spectacular, but it is in no way poor, the way some Turkish carvings are. Nice sultan in a fitted case, probably 90s or newer. Any brand sticker in the case?

I bought one similar to this one at the Pre-Show during the last Chicago show. Mine looks like one of the three musketeers. I spent a little more than you spent. But I got to talk to the carver. He added the date and his name to the pipe, near the stem. I enjoy mine.
