Question about tenon on a Dunhill Bowling ball stem
Postby tinpan » Thu Sep 21, 2006 12:52 am
I am inthe process of unloading my Dunhill Collection on ebay and I have a question regarding a pipe I sold. It is an old Dunhill with a bowling ball stem. I am pretty up to speed with Dunhills from about 1950 on, but i am really not that knowledgable on early Dunhills.
My question is what type of tenon was used to join the stem with the pipe. This pipe has a tenon that is in the pipe and the stem screws on the pipe. I've seen the early 3 prong metal tenons and this is diffferent.
Nomenclature on left of bowl is as follows:
DUNHILL
LONDON
Nomenclature on right of bowl is as follows:
MADE IN ENGLAND 116
PAT No 368812 14
