My First Cob

8 bucks from amazon. Any advice how to break one of these in? I only have briars until now.

Don't really need to break in corncobs, just load it and go. The maiden bowl is usually shaded with this sweetness from the fresh cob, some of my favorite smokes.

I see a filter in there. I’d toss that, but it’s your choice.

The Shire Cobbit. It has an acrylic stem. Wonderful smoker.

I’ve looked at those, and they look cool to me. How do they compare insofar as the airflow compared to the mm ?

I agree with Furcoat. I have several MM cobs, but the Shire Cobbit is the best smoker.

The acorn bowl has such a nice feel in the hand. I would also recommend the Stubby with the acrylic stem.

I find the airflow better. It's tighter and closer to a typical briar. I find that intensifies and marries the flavors better but that could just be me.
As far as clenching it's not hard but it's really different and counter intuitive. I now find it easy but not at all at first. It's all about placement.
In short though they're pretty cheap so why not try one just to check it out. Also like the cob better even if it's more fragile then what M.M. typically uses.
Why pricier maybe because they're not the people who make them just work on the selling and distribution side.

I had one MM cob and one hardwood as my only pipes for the occasional use for several years I really enjoy them.
