Can't figure out how you married the ebonite and the horn, though. Is the tenon horn or rubber?
The tenon is ebonite- horn expands and contracts too much- Making it is pretty easy actually- First step is to super glue the horn to a 3 jaw chuck on the metal lathe. Face off one side. Open the chuck, the horn pops free. Glue the smooth side to the chuck, face off the rough side and drill 21/64" hole all the way through. Now you have a piece of horn with two smooth parallel sides and a hole for the tenon to pass through.
Next- Turn a stem with a 1.25" long tenon .002" smaller than the 21/64" hole. Epoxy the horn to the stem- clamp it in place overnight. Come back the next day, turn the exposed part of the tenon to the final diameter of 5/16"...and then finish shaping the stem. I may do a video on this one...Might be fun!
