I've been drawn to Bulldogs lately as well, and that is a classy looking pipe.
If you are afraid of wiping away too much of the nomenclature on the stem, try the toothpaste trick first and see if that gives you the look you want.

I’m wondering if I could somehow carefully mask off the stem logo and polish around it. The stem on mine is heavily oxidized and will definitely need some work.
